One of the best parts of being part of a provider community is learning from people who are doing the work every day. Recently, we asked Laundry Care Providers to share their go-to laundry detergents and routines, including what they use most often, what they keep on hand for special requests, and how they handle stains, sensitivities, and heavily soiled loads.

The responses were thoughtful, practical, and full of real-world experience. Here is a recap of what Providers shared and why these products work well in everyday laundry service.

Popular Everyday Detergents Providers Rely On

Several Providers mentioned rotating between a few trusted brands depending on the order.

Joni shared that Tide and Gain are her go-to products, with Persil as a close second. She also keeps Arm and Hammer on hand as a backup option if she ever runs out, even though it is not a top choice.

Heather also swears by Persil for most loads but keeps Gain available for items like towels and sheets. For sensitive skin requests, she switches to All Free and Clear.

Jessica noted that Tide Free and Gentle cleans better than All Free and Clear in her experience. She also likes Orange Persil and uses powdered Ariel 2x as her everyday detergent because of its strong cleaning power.

Patty shared that she prefers Tide Professional Powder or Tide Clean and Gentle Powder, especially for consistent results.

A common theme across responses was flexibility. Providers often keep more than one detergent on hand so they can adjust based on the order.

Sensitive Skin and Free and Clear Options

Skin sensitivities and allergies come up frequently in laundry service, and many Providers prioritize fragrance-free options.

Janet shared that she only uses All Free and Clear because of the number of clients with allergies and sensitivities, including herself.

Sonja mentioned using Arm and Hammer Free and Clear when requested, along with Tide Hygienic Clean for tougher loads.

Several Providers echoed the importance of having at least one free and clear detergent available at all times, even if scented detergents are used for other orders. As a Provider, having a free and clear detergent ensures that you will be successful with any order.

Powder Detergent Fans Speak Up

Powder detergent came up more often than expected, especially among Providers focused on residue and deep cleaning, and clearly still has a spot in the laundry world.

Bailee is a strong advocate for Tide Clean and Gentle Powder. She shared that powder detergent gives a thorough clean with less risk of detergent lingering in fabrics. Her approach also reflects growing client interest in perfume-free and dye-free products.

Patty and Jessica also mentioned powdered options as reliable choices for cleaning power and consistency.

Stain Fighters and Add-Ons Providers Love

Beyond detergent, Providers shared what they use to tackle stains and odors. Even though stain removal is not guaranteed, we find many of our Providers pride themselves in being able to get out some tough stains and offer an extra level of service that clients appreciate.

Becky swears by Zote soap for stain removal and buys it in bulk.

Heather pre-treats stains with Shout Extra Care and uses blue Dawn dish soap on food stains.

Nikki shared that she avoids bleach unless requested and relies on OxiClean for white clothes. She also enjoys using scented products like Gain Happy with towels when appropriate.

Sonja uses Arm and Hammer Laundry Sanitizer for sports gear and heavily soiled items.

Several Providers mentioned laundry sanitizers, color-catching sheets, and wool dryer balls as helpful extras depending on the load.

How Providers Decide What to Use

One of the most valuable takeaways from the discussion was how intentional Providers are about choosing products.

Many shared that they:

  • Use free and clear options by default or upon request

  • Adjust detergents for kids’ clothes, sports gear, or heavy soil

  • Avoid bleach unless a client specifically asks for it

  • Keep multiple options available to meet different needs

Crystal also pointed out external resources that compare detergent performance and stain testing, which can be helpful when deciding what to try next.

What This Means for New Providers

There is no single “best” detergent for every order. The most successful Providers build a small, reliable system that allows them to adapt while still staying consistent.

Having:

  • One strong everyday detergent

  • One free and clear option

  • A trusted stain remover

  • A plan for heavily soiled or specialty loads

can prevent rewashes, save time, and improve client satisfaction.

Final Thoughts

This tip swap showed just how much knowledge exists within the Provider community. Real experience matters, and learning from each other helps everyone improve their process.

If you are new to the laundry provider opportunity, experimenting thoughtfully and listening to client feedback will help you refine what works best for you. If you are experienced, sharing your tips might save another Provider time, money, or frustration.

Community knowledge is one of the strongest tools Providers have, and this conversation proved it.
